Re-Vamped Mustang BOSS 302R reaches top speed in Florida

It seems as though the Ford Company is taking on a whole new look and pulling themselves out of the muddy pit that they got themselves into financially a couple of years ago.  Since the Ford government bailout, we have seen some incredible new additions to the Ford vehicle line.  The redesign of the Mustang BOSS 302R has definitely turned heads on the roads as well as the raceways.

 

The BOSS was originally introduced to the public in Daytona Beach, FL with Ford announcing that this model was a brand new racing model as well as a model that we will be able to drive on the roads.  Popular racecar driver, Parnelli Jones helped to design the original BOSS when it was released over 40 years ago.  Jones has also had a hand in revamping the brand new 2011 model for the racetrack.

 

Recently, Jones had the chance to drive around the famous Mazda Laguna Seca racetrack up near Monterey, CA.  This racer has shown some excellent speed as well as control and will definitely give all other racecars a challenging ride.  The BOSS is only going to be in production for the races and there will only be about 50 of them made.  There had been some talk about making a model for the public, which will have less power for the everyday highway.

 

While this particular Mustang model does hold some excellent potential on the racetrack it will all come down to how the driver handles the 5.0 liter, V8 engine.  This is racecar is eligible to race is the Koni Challenge which is now referred to as the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car and Challenge series.  This is where the BOSS can really shine and outrace Corvettes, Porches and the Astin Martin V8's, all those who have held the top speed spots for years.

 

Keep a look out for the mustang BOSS 302R coming out sometime within the next 6 months or so.  The 6 speed transmission will definitely shine while racing on the track and hopefully we will be able to experience this racer on the roadways as well.  The total cost of this particular car can run you about $80,000, which does come included with that fresh, new car smell.  Wait and see what Ford has in store for you race fans this year and make sure to tune in to see the Mustang BOSS.
